Can’t stand Christmas albums anymore? Fortunately, Kait Dunton is here and manages to create a particularly fun funk/jazz album that could have served as the soundtrack to a Snoopy episode. In fact, from the first notes of the first track of this album, ‘Joy to The World,’ I couldn’t help but laugh because Kait Dunton’s arrangements are particularly amusing, funny, and clever.
In July 2023, I was already impressed by her album ‘Keyboards‘, which I still recommend with enthusiasm. Now, you have to take notice of her latest album, ‘A Very Keyboards Christmas.’ Dunton says, ‘I’m so excited to share this album with you! I had so much fun creating it, and I hope it brings a funky and festive spirit to your holidays!’
“A Very Keyboards Christmas” was recorded at EastWest Studios in Hollywood, California, on October 16, with everyone recording live in the same room. It was produced and mixed by Wil Anspach and mastered by Justin Shturtz at Sterling Sound.
It’s certain that this album will bring joy to everyone who listens to it. Beyond Kait Dunton’s recognized energy, it’s her vision of her instrument, her way of showcasing it, and always infusing a touch of humor and sweetness into her compositions that make her distinctive. The absence of vocals on the tracks is a significant advantage, and Kait’s arrangements allow us to rediscover them in a different and particularly interesting way.
Strange, you might say, but for all these reasons, which you’ll admit are very good reasons, here’s a Christmas album that enters the ‘Essentials’ of Bayou Blue Radio and Paris-Move.”
