Daniel Stein – R for Romeo

If you don’t know keyboardist and composer Daniel Stein yet, here’s an excerpt from his impressive biography: Daniel had a successful career as a session musician, composer and producer, which began after graduating from Berklee College of Music. After a brief stint in New York, he moved to Los Angeles over the past 30 years. Daniel has worked on records for James Taylor, Joe Cocker, Jim Henson and Disney. He has composed music for Super Bowl commercials, animated films, scripted and unscripted television shows.
Now Daniel Stein is developing his personal projects, one of the fruits of which is this album, R for Romeo, which will be released on March 17 by Moondo Music. Each track of this radiant album, could be a film or television series sountrack, majestic and catchy compositions, featuring wonderful artists: The bassists Rene Camacho ( War ), Travis Carlton (Larry Carlton, Sara Bareilles) trumpeter Chris Tedesco (Christina Aguillera, Michael Buble ), Drummers Kevin Stevens (Duane Eddy) Fred Dinkkins (Al Green, Stevie Wonder) and Rick Latham (Edgar Winter, Juice Newton) and Marcos Reyes (War and Los Lobos )… Suffice to say, this album is pure happiness from start to finish, leaving you with joyful images in your head.
The secret of Daniel Stein’s work lies in the richness of his arrangements; pure marvels in which our ears can get lost while noting all the subtleties. Each title is influenced by the the 70s, 80s and 90s, which lends a colour as interesting as what you could find in an group like MFSB, with each truly remarkable musician offering all their ability and subtlety.
The title Midtown in the form of funky blues is in itself a small monument in this album, especially since it is placed almost in the middle of the tracks and allows us to take full advantage of the quality of play of each of them. You will certainly not be surprised to know that the editorial staff of Bayou Blue Radio and Paris-Move have classified this album “Essential.”
